<p><strong>School Summary</strong></p> <p>Ohio Connections Academy is a tuition-free K–12 public virtual school that students attend from home. Authorized under state law by the Ohio Council of Community Schools, Ohio Connections Academy (OCA) is state-certified and open to students throughout Northeast, Northwest, Central, Southeast, and Southwest Ohio.</p> <p><strong>Position Summary and Responsibilities</strong></p> <p>Working from your home office or our office in Columbus or Mason, Ohio, the Coordinator of Counseling Services will collaborate with the Counseling Services leadership team to implement a comprehensive counseling program based on the ASCA national model.  With a focus on High School, the Coordinator of Counseling Services will become an expert on graduation requirements and maximizing data in order to drive targeted support for students, families, and staff. </p> <p>The Coordinator of Counseling Services will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:</p> <ul> <li aria-level="1">Keep abreast of all high school graduation requirements, including special requirements such as end-of-course testing, graduation seals, and other information shared by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce;</li> <li aria-level="1">Improve and support systems to access and utilize data throughout the school year cycle, including:</li> <ul> <li aria-level="2">Review of EOC scores</li> <li aria-level="2">Academic Probation</li> <li aria-level="2">Review of graduation requirements, including progress in courses, competencies, and seals</li> <li aria-level="2">Student Success Plans</li> <li aria-level="2">High School Course Selection</li> </ul> <li aria-level="1">Support a structure for the identification of students who will utilize alternative paths to demonstrate competency; </li> <li aria-level="1">Strengthen the process for identifying and tracking students needing Success Plans;</li> <li aria-level="1">Collaborate with school administration and teachers to support students who are failing, specifically students in the Academic Probation process;</li> <li aria-level="1">Collaborate with OCA staff to ensure that EOC data is received from state systems. </li> <li aria-level="1">Work with the administrative assistants to ensure that school records from the student’s previous school have been received (as needed);</li> <li aria-level="1">Assist in process improvement for implementing Graduation Plans for all high school students;</li> <li aria-level="1">Utilize data to identify students at-risk, and work on strategies to ensure safety and overcome barriers to learning;</li> <li aria-level="1">Coordinate with Counseling Services leaders to support students who are experiencing homelessness, treatment for physical or mental health issues and behavioral crises; </li> <li aria-level="1">Understand the requirements for postsecondary readiness programs, including Advanced Placement support, SAT and ACT Preparation, Career Technical and college admissions planning, scholarships, financial aid, and financial aid workshops;</li> <li aria-level="1">Participate in the administration of all high school testing, including End-of-Course exams, PSAT, SAT, and AP exams;</li> <li aria-level="1">Other duties as assigned. </li> </ul> <p><strong>Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li aria-level="1">Ohio School Counselor license</li> <li aria-level="1">Master’s Degree</li> <li aria-level="1">High School Counseling experience preferred</li> <li aria-level="1">Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products)</li> <li aria-level="1">Excellent communication skills, both oral and written</li> <li aria-level="1">Customer-focused approach</li> <li aria-level="1">Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills</li> <li aria-level="1">High degree of flexibility</li> <li aria-level="1">Team player with demonstrated leadership skills</li> <li aria-level="1">Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment</li> <li aria-level="1">Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events  (may require occasional overnight travel)</li> <li aria-level="1">Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication</li> </ul> <p><a href="https://www.hrc-connectionsacademy.com/prospective-employee-benefits-page.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Prospective Employee Benefits Page - HUMAN RESOURCES SERVICES</a></p> <p><strong>Application Contingency: ANY PERSON WHO KNOWINGLY MAKES A FALSE STATEMENT IS GUILTY OF A FALSIFICATION UNDER SECTION 2921.13 OF THE OHIO REVISED CODE, WHICH IS A MISDEMEANOR OF THE FIRST DEGREE.</strong> <br><br><strong>Ohio Connections Academy strives to create an inclusive environment that welcomes and values the diversity of the people we serve.
